Wi-Fi Site Surveys & Design

Unreliable Wi-Fi is usually a design problem, not a "more access points" problem. SAER designs business Wi-Fi using site survey data, capacity planning and security best practices. We assess floor plans, building materials, interference sources, and user density to plan access point placement, channel usage, transmit power and roaming behaviour.

For hospitality, retail and warehouses, we focus on coverage and capacity — ensuring POS, EFTPOS, guest Wi-Fi and staff devices operate without dropouts. For offices, we prioritise conferencing stability and secure segmentation (staff vs guest vs IoT).

We deliver validated outcomes: planned heatmaps (and where required, post-install verification), secure WPA2/WPA3 configurations, captive portals (optional), and documented settings so the network is supportable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Wi-Fi site surveys and design

Yes, in many cases. Poor Wi-Fi performance is often caused by incorrect placement, overlapping channels, or misconfigured settings rather than failing hardware. We start with a site assessment to identify coverage gaps, interference sources, and configuration issues. Often, repositioning existing APs, adjusting power levels, and optimizing channel allocation can dramatically improve performance without replacing equipment. We only recommend new hardware when current devices can't meet capacity or coverage requirements.
We use VLANs (Virtual LANs) and SSIDs to create separate logical networks that share the same physical infrastructure. Staff connect to a secure corporate SSID with WPA2/WPA3 encryption and full network access. Guests connect to an isolated SSID with internet-only access (no access to internal resources). IoT devices are placed on a separate VLAN with restricted firewall rules. For high-security environments, we can implement 802.1X/RADIUS authentication to validate devices before granting network access.
Absolutely. For organizations with multiple locations, we create standardized Wi-Fi templates that maintain consistent SSID naming, security policies, VLAN assignments, and QoS settings across all sites. This standardization simplifies management through centralized controllers (cloud or on-premise), enables roaming between sites, reduces training complexity for IT staff, and ensures consistent user experience regardless of location. We document the standard and create site-specific variations only where building layout or capacity requirements differ.
